Is the HTC Smart Underwhelming?

HTC SmartThe HTC Smart phone will be one of the mobile manufacturer’s newest phones. It is also one of its least featured-packed. Don’t get me wrong, it has many of the same features that a typical smartphone such as the HTC HD2 would have. It comes standard with a camera, allows individuals to browse the internet and has a decent amount of internal memory. One of the biggest differences is that it runs on the Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform. All things considered, this is one of HTC’s least impressive phones. But it is not expected to be very expensive so it’s not like they are looking to rip any of their consumers off. In fact, rumor has it that the Smart is a gateway phone that will hopefully, convince low-end customers to upgrade in the future.

The HTC Smart will have 256 MB of RAM and ROM. Individuals can add more memory by purchasing a microSD card. The Smart has a 2.8 inch resistive screen display and a 3.0 megapixel camera. The screen is a bit on the small size. There are much mobile phones with much bigger screens, the upcoming LG GW990 is one of them. However, the Smart will be a cheaper phone so that’s a tradeoff that buyers who want a less expensive phone will have to live with. The 3.0 megapixel camera is pretty nice. It’s not great but it’s good.

The HTC Smart is a European smart 3G phones. It has a processing speed of 300 MHZ which is about average. As far as what has been reported, the phone will not have GSP or Wi-Fi. However, that could change.

The Smart is scheduled to be released to the European and Asian market in the Spring of 2010.  The phone’s price has not yet been determined or at least not released. Considering that the phone will be available in a few months, this information should be coming soon.
