HTC Announces the Successor for Hero in 2010: Espresso or Not?
What we have learned from a recently leaked XML is that HTC will be announcing a possible successor for their popular Android release Hero. The new phone, which is to be named HTC Espresso, will also be carrying Android platform, while it will also be featuring a QWERTY keyboard unlike the Hero. The codename for the phone was also found in the leaked XML along with other specifications.
To further interest HTC and Android phone fans, this news came right in time as one of the HTC spokesmen confirmed the arrival of a successor model to the HTC Hero next year probably in the month of February.
According to Patrick Andersson, the HTC executive in Sweden, no less than half of the HTC phones released in the year 2010 will be offering their users the Android platform as the OS. One of these Android releases is speculated to be the highly anticipated successor of the HTC Hero, and is expected to be announced next year in February during the Mobile World Congress 2010.
Although it is beyond doubt that all the talk about HTC Espresso being the successor of the HTC Hero is mere speculation, but even if the phone is not really what the pundits are taking it to be, it is still attracting a lot of attention as far as Android phone fans are concerned.
Besides, the Espresso will feature all the kind of features which made HTC Hero such a success. With an addition of a slider QWERTY keypad, the HTC Espresso will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7200A 528 MHz processor.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for the screen size, but the display resolution is expected to be 320 x 480 pixels. However, the leaked XML further hints towards the 16-bit color depth to be used in the phone, which is far from impressive, as even the 65k color in sets using Android versions lower than the 2.0 are nothing much to talk about either.
